Aluminum Louver and Sun Shading Profiles

Architectural aluminum louver blades and sun shading profiles for facade solar control.

Product Overview

In tropical Southeast Asia, solar heat gain through building facades is one of the primary drivers of air conditioning energy consumption. A west-facing glass facade in Bangkok or Ho Chi Minh City can receive solar radiation of 600–800 W/m² during afternoon hours — equivalent to running a powerful electric heater against every square meter of glass. Aluminum louver systems are one of the most effective architectural responses to this challenge.

A well-designed louver system can reduce solar heat gain through a facade by 50–70%, while maintaining views, natural light, and natural ventilation. The key is the blade angle and profile geometry: blades angled to block direct sunlight at the critical solar angles (typically 30–60° from horizontal for tropical latitudes) while allowing diffuse skylight and views at lower angles.

Our louver profiles are available in fixed and adjustable configurations. Fixed louvers are simpler and more economical — the blade angle is set during installation and cannot be changed. Adjustable louvers use a pivot mechanism that allows the blade angle to be changed manually or by an automated actuator, providing dynamic solar control that responds to changing sun angles throughout the day.

The blade cross-section is designed for both structural performance and aerodynamics. The hollow, aerofoil-shaped section provides high bending stiffness (resisting wind loads on long blade spans) while minimizing wind resistance and noise. Standard blade widths are 100mm, 150mm, and 200mm, with spans up to 4,000mm between supports.

For facade applications, PVDF fluorocarbon coating is the standard surface treatment — it provides 25-year color retention in the harsh tropical UV environment, ensuring the facade appearance is maintained over the building's lifetime. Custom colors are available to match the architect's specification.

System Interfaces, Fabrication and Delivery Controls

Architectural profiles must be bought as an interacting system. Frame, sash, glazing bead, gaskets, hardware, drainage and finish need to be checked together rather than ordered as isolated section shapes.
