Product Overview
The folding door has become the defining architectural element of modern tropical living. Walk into any upscale villa in Bali, any beachfront restaurant in Phuket, or any contemporary apartment in Singapore, and you'll find a wall of folding doors that opens the interior to the outside. When the doors are open, the boundary between inside and outside dissolves. When they're closed, the space is sealed against rain and insects. It's a simple idea that transforms how people experience their homes.
The engineering challenge of a folding door is the pivot mechanism. Each panel needs to fold smoothly, align precisely with the adjacent panels, and seal tightly when closed — all while supporting its own weight (typically 30–50 kg per panel) on pivot hinges at the top and bottom. A poorly designed pivot system will cause panels to sag over time, creating gaps at the top or bottom that let in rain and insects.
Our folding door profiles use a precision pivot hinge system with stainless steel pivot pins and adjustable pivot housings. The adjustment allows the installer to fine-tune the panel alignment after installation — essential for large multi-panel systems where cumulative tolerances can cause misalignment. The pivot housings are concealed within the profile, maintaining a clean appearance.
The weatherstrip system is designed for the tropical climate: EPDM rubber seals on all four sides of each panel, with a brush pile seal at the panel-to-panel joints to accommodate the slight movement that occurs as panels fold. The bottom track includes a drainage channel to handle the water that inevitably enters the track during heavy rain.
For hospitality applications — hotel lobbies, restaurant facades, resort villas — we can supply folding door profiles in PVDF fluorocarbon coating with a 25-year warranty. The PVDF coating maintains its color and gloss in the harsh tropical UV environment, ensuring the facade looks as good in year 20 as it did on opening day.
