Product Overview
Every shop owner in Southeast Asia knows the sound of a roller shutter closing at the end of the day — the rhythmic clatter of aluminum slats interlocking as the curtain descends. It's the sound of security, of a business protected for the night. But not all roller shutters are equal, and the quality of the aluminum slat profile determines whether that shutter will still be working reliably in 10 years or will have become a maintenance headache long before then.
The key to a good roller shutter slat is the interlocking geometry. The slat profile has a curved cross-section with interlocking hooks at the top and bottom edges. When the shutter is closed, these hooks engage to create a continuous curtain that resists lateral forces (wind pressure, attempted forced entry) while allowing the shutter to roll up smoothly around the drum. If the interlocking geometry is imprecise — even by 0.5mm — the slats will bind during operation, causing premature wear on the drive mechanism and noise that disturbs neighbors.
Our roller shutter slat profiles are manufactured to tight dimensional tolerances, with the interlocking hook geometry controlled to ±0.15mm. The profiles are available in standard (1.0mm wall) and heavy-duty (1.5mm wall) versions. The heavy-duty version is specified for commercial applications where the shutter may be subject to impact loads — delivery vehicles, shopping carts, or deliberate forced entry attempts.
Surface finish options include mill finish (for painting on-site), anodized silver or bronze (for a maintenance-free metallic appearance), and powder coating in any RAL color. For shopfronts where the shutter is a visible design element, powder coating in a color that matches the building facade creates a more integrated appearance than the standard silver finish.
