4080 T-Slot Aluminum Extrusion Profile
Double-width 40×80mm profile — 3.6× stiffer than 4040 for horizontal beams and gantry structures.
Product Overview
Here's a scenario that plays out in machine shops all over Southeast Asia: an engineer designs a conveyor frame using 4040 profiles, the structure gets built, and then during commissioning the horizontal crossbeams deflect noticeably under load. The linear guides go out of alignment. The product quality suffers. The engineer has to go back and reinforce the frame — wasting time, money, and credibility.
The 4080 profile exists precisely to prevent this. By doubling the height from 40mm to 80mm, the moment of inertia increases from 4.12 cm⁴ to 14.8 cm⁴ — that's 3.6 times stiffer for the same material weight per meter. For horizontal beams spanning more than 1,000mm, the 4080 is almost always the right choice over the 4040.
The geometry is also practical. The 4080 has six T-slots: two on each long face and one on each short face. This means you can attach components from any direction — hanging sensors from the bottom, mounting brackets on the sides, connecting vertical columns from the ends. The slot layout is compatible with standard 4040 accessories, so you don't need a separate inventory of fasteners.
We supply the 4080 in 6063-T5 as standard, and 6063-T6 for applications where the higher proof stress (170 MPa vs 110 MPa) is needed. The T6 temper requires solution heat treatment after extrusion, which adds cost and lead time, but for long-span beams carrying significant loads it's worth specifying.
In practice, a well-designed machine frame often mixes 4040 and 4080 profiles: 4040 for vertical columns and short horizontal members, 4080 for the main horizontal beams. This approach minimizes material cost while ensuring the structure meets deflection requirements. If you share your frame drawings with us, our engineering team can review the profile selection and flag any potential issues before you place the order.
Surface finish options include mill finish, anodized silver or black (AA15), and powder coating in any RAL color. For food processing applications, we recommend anodized finish rather than powder coating — anodizing is harder, more abrasion-resistant, and doesn't chip or flake the way powder coat can under repeated cleaning with industrial detergents.

Compatibility, Assembly and Order Controls
For modular framing, a nominal outer size is not enough to establish compatibility. Confirm the supplied section drawing, slot geometry, core-hole arrangement, connector family and cut/machining references before a mixed-series order is released.
