Aluminum Profile Anodizing Service (AA10–AA25)

In-house anodizing service for aluminum profiles: AA10, AA15, AA20, AA25, hard anodize, and colored anodize.

Product Overview

Anodizing is one of those processes that looks simple from the outside but requires careful control of a dozen variables to achieve consistent results. The electrolyte concentration, temperature, current density, anodizing time, sealing process — each affects the final oxide layer thickness, hardness, and appearance. A poorly controlled anodizing process produces profiles that look acceptable initially but fail prematurely in service, with the oxide layer cracking, chalking, or showing uneven color.

We operate our anodizing line in-house, which means we control every step of the process. Our anodizing tanks are temperature-controlled to ±0.5°C, and the current density is monitored and adjusted throughout the anodizing cycle. We measure the oxide layer thickness on every batch using an eddy-current thickness gauge, and we reject any profiles that fall outside the specified thickness range.

Our standard anodizing grades are AA10 (10μm, for indoor applications), AA15 (15μm, standard architectural), AA20 (20μm, exterior architectural), and AA25 (25μm, severe environment). Hard anodizing (25–100μm, for wear-resistant applications) is available with a longer lead time. Colored anodizing — silver, bronze, champagne, black, and custom colors — is available for all grades.

One aspect of anodizing that's often overlooked is the pre-treatment. The quality of the anodized finish depends heavily on the surface condition of the aluminum before anodizing. We perform a multi-stage pre-treatment: alkaline degreasing, acid etching, and desmutting. This removes surface contamination, die lines, and the natural oxide layer, producing a clean, uniform surface that anodizes consistently. Profiles that skip proper pre-treatment will show die lines, streaks, and color variations in the final anodized finish.

We can anodize profiles supplied by customers as well as our own extrusions. For customer-supplied profiles, we require a sample batch of 10–20 pieces for process development before committing to a full production run. This ensures that the specific alloy and surface condition of the customer's profiles will anodize to the required specification.
